Fulfils the role of Secretary. As well as running the administration of The Liberty, he is responsible for ensuring that correct protocol is maintained during the many ceremonial functions The Deputy attends in the course of his year.

With such an ancient organisation the history is often difficult to recognise, yet without its history The Liberty is nothing more than a men’s social club. It is the historian’s job to ensure The Liberty remains firmly aligned with its history and to be the fount of knowledge when historic significance might be questioned.

Banner Bearer
His duties are the safe keeping of the banner of The Cinque Port Liberty of Brightlingsea and to process ahead of The Deputy and his party during ceremonial occasions, bearing the banner.
